Gallatin Powers was a world traveling chef that ended up in Monterey after soaking up the cuisine of ancient Europe. He opened up the prestigious Gallatin’s restaurant in the very building that 1833 now inhabits. It's famous slogan was "Halfway between the Hospital and Jail". The French Laundry of its time... Gallatin’s attracted the likes of Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra as well as the distant glamour of Hollywood. The menu was ambitious...and included exotic items such as whole bull’s head minotaur & a whole roasted wild boar. This tucked away fire lit room is the perfect hideaway for trading international secrets or just plain celebrating.
